The first reading of the third Sunday of Lent has several parallels to the story of our Lady of LaSalette.  In both narratives, a light lures the shepherds to their impending charge.  Moses is surprised by a bush on fire that is not consuming the bush while Melanie and Maxim are attracted to a bright light surrounding a beautiful Lady.  Both narratives bring good news. However, each narrative will present a challenging charge for the shepherds.  In both narratives, the shepherds are challenged to help people make a change in their lives and return to God.

We too are often charged with hard decisions and challenging changes.  The good news is we have an intercessor in Our Lady of La Salette.  She presents us to her son who brings us out of darkness and illuminates our path to his perfect love.  This Lenten season, may we be strengthened in the light of faith, be comforted with peace in the light of hope, and walk in God’s light toward perfect love. Most of all, may we seek opportunities to be a reflective light of God’s love in service to others.
